Terms of Use
Effective: May 18, 2026
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your use of lifeaftercall.com and any associated newsletters and content (“the Site”). Read them. By using the Site you agree to them.
A Rhode Island attorney has not yet reviewed this template. Have one bless it before relying on it.
1. Who I am
The Site is operated by an individual sole proprietor (“publisher,” “I,” or “me”) writing under the first-name-only identity “Alex, MD.” The publisher is a licensed physician in the State of Rhode Island. Life After Call is a personal publication, not a medical practice or a covered entity under HIPAA.
Contact: [email protected]. Legal and privacy contact: [email protected].
2. What the Site is
A non-clinical publication about AI workflows for the part of physician life that happens outside the hospital. Reading material, opinions, and workflows. Educational and informational only.
3. What the Site is not
The Site does not provide:
- Medical advice
- Legal advice
- Financial, investment, tax, or accounting advice
- Professional services of any kind
Using this Site does not create:
- A doctor-patient relationship
- An attorney-client relationship
- A fiduciary relationship
- Any other professional relationship
If you need any of the above, talk to a qualified, licensed professional in your jurisdiction.
4. Non-clinical guardrail
I do not write about patient care, clinical workflows, charting, clinical decision support, AI scribes, ambient documentation, or any topic that touches the inside of a hospital or other clinical setting. If a post appears to drift toward clinical content, treat it as a writing error and do not act on it.
Nothing on the Site should be used to make clinical decisions or to inform the care of any patient. The publisher is licensed in Rhode Island. The Site is not the practice of medicine in Rhode Island or anywhere else.
5. Eligibility
The Site is intended for users 16 years of age or older. By using the Site you represent that you are at least 16 years old (or the digital age of consent in your jurisdiction, whichever is greater).
6. License to use content
Subject to these Terms, you may:
- Read content on the Site for personal, non-commercial use
- Share links to Site content
- Quote short passages with clear attribution to “Alex, MD / lifeaftercall.com”
- Forward newsletter emails to a colleague
You may not, without prior written permission:
- Republish full posts or substantial portions of posts on another site, platform, or publication
- Use Site content to train commercial artificial intelligence or machine-learning models
- Use the “Life After Call” name, the pager-OFF mark, or other Life After Call brand assets for your own venture
- Pass off any of the writing as your own
- Frame, scrape, or systematically copy the Site
- Use the Site in any way that violates applicable law
For permission requests, email [email protected]. I am generally friendly about non-commercial reuse with attribution.
All content on the Site is © 2026 Life After Call. All rights reserved.
7. Newsletter
If you subscribe to the newsletter, you are agreeing to receive periodic email from [email protected] (or a successor sending address). You can unsubscribe at any time using the link at the bottom of any email or by replying with “unsubscribe.” The Site’s collection and use of your subscription data is described in the Privacy Policy.
The newsletter complies with the federal CAN-SPAM Act and applicable Rhode Island law. The publisher’s mailing address is available on the unsubscribe page of every newsletter email, as required.
8. User submissions
If you email me, send a social message, or otherwise submit content (a “Submission”), you grant me a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, edit, and publish that Submission in connection with the Site, with or without attribution, unless you explicitly mark the Submission as confidential or off the record. I will not publish anything that identifies you without your consent.
Do not submit anything you do not have the right to share. Do not submit protected health information or patient data, even your own. Do not submit confidential information from your employer.
9. No warranties
The Site is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranty of any kind, express or implied. I disclaim all warranties, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and any warranty arising out of course of dealing or usage of trade.
Workflows that worked for me may not work for you. AI tools change frequently. Companies modify their pricing, features, and privacy practices without notice. I do my best to keep posts current but cannot guarantee accuracy at any particular moment.
Use your own judgment for anything involving money, contracts, professional standing, or sensitive data.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the publisher is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, use, or goodwill, arising out of or in connection with your use of the Site, regardless of the legal theory.
Total aggregate liability for any claim relating to the Site is limited to one hundred U.S. dollars ($100.00).
Some jurisdictions do not allow exclusions or limitations of certain damages. In those jurisdictions, the foregoing limitations apply to the maximum extent permitted by law.
11. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the publisher and any heirs, successors, or assigns from any claim, damage, loss, liability, or expense (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising out of your misuse of the Site, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any third party’s rights.
12. Affiliate links and disclosures
The Site does not currently run an affiliate program. If that ever changes, affiliate links will be clearly disclosed inline and in a header on any post that contains them, consistent with Federal Trade Commission (“FTC”) endorsement guidelines.
If a tool is named on the Site, it is because the publisher actually uses it.
13. Third-party content
The Site sometimes links to other websites, tools, or services. The publisher does not control those sites and is not responsible for their content, accuracy, privacy practices, or terms.
14. Termination
I may suspend or terminate your access to the Site at any time, for any reason or for no reason, including for violation of these Terms.
15. Changes to these Terms
I may update these Terms over time. The “effective date” at the top of this page reflects the most recent change. Continued use of the Site after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
16. Governing law and forum
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Rhode Island, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or your use of the Site shall be brought exclusively in the state courts located in Providence County, Rhode Island, or, where federal jurisdiction exists, the United States District Court for the District of Rhode Island. You and I consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts and waive any objection to venue.
17. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is held to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full force and effect.
18. No waiver
Failure to enforce any provision of these Terms is not a waiver of that provision.
19. Entire agreement
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and any notices on individual pages or posts, are the entire agreement between you and the publisher regarding the Site.
